Travel
You have many options to get to Puglia from flying, taking the train or driving. We recommend you do what is most convenient for you and your trip. Once you are in Puglia, we recommend renting a car or hiring for private car to pick you up. We have included more details for all options below!
Please note due to the rural nature of Puglia, there are typically no taxis on the road to hail and Uber does not operate across the region. If you want to use taxi services, you will need to pre-book (normally €60+ min each way). We have included some options below or you can also contact your hotel to arrange for a taxi. For all of the wedding events we will be providing shuttle services to and from the room block/recommended hotels list.
Private Transportation Options
Please find a few companies we have suggested below if you'd like to arrange for private transportation while you are in Puglia. Alternatively, you can arrange for a driver with our wedding planners or go directly through your hotel concierge.
Flights to Puglia
Bari and Brindisi are the two largest cities in the region.
Both regional airports are a 45 minute drive to the Masseria Calderisi and Fasano area. You will not be able to fly directly from the US but you will be able to find affordable flights/layovers from most major European hubs. This includes London, Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Rome.
Airport Transfer
We recommend renting a car at the airport to reach Masseria Calderisi (~45 min drive) as you will no doubt want to explore all the delights the region has to offer. Please note Taxi services are quite limited in the area.
However if you need a private transfer from the airport, please contact our wedding planners! Sveva and Francesco at Ottone Weddings will be more than happy to help - bookings@ottonewedding.com or +39 379 105 5457 (on WhatsApp).
Average price (starting from)
€ 100 - € 150 per ride
By Train
Bari has great train links to all major areas of Puglia and Italy. There are trains and buses from Bari Airport to Bari Central Station which run every day, costing from €9. There is a 4 hour fast train that leaves from Rome to Bari, Puglia which is a great option as well.
From Bari Central Station there are connections to most of Puglia's must-see towns. (E.g Bari-Fasano takes less than 40 minutes). The nearest railway station is Fasano 5km away from Masseria Calderisi.
By Car
If you fly into Rome or Naples, you can drive to the Fasano area (where the wedding venue is located) in 5 hrs or 3.5hrs, respectively. You can also stop in Naples (for incredible pizza) and Matera (made even more famous by No Time to Die) along the way. It's a beautiful drive and it will fly by.
We highly recommend hiring a car as you will no doubt want to explore all the delights the region has to offer. Please note there are typically no taxis on the road to hail and Uber doesn't operate across the region. If you want to use taxi services, you will need to pre-book. If you are renting a car to drive through Italy please make sure that the primary driver has a credit card in their name.
There are strict rules on this and hiring a car with a debit card last minute at the airport can be extremely expensive. Please Take a look at the options below to rent a car:
Shuttle Service
We care about your safety and have organized roundtrip shuttles to reach Masseria Calderisi for all wedding events. Information on timetables and pick-up points will follow!
Accommodations
We have arranged for the room blocks below; however Airbnb, Hotel and Masseria (typical farm stays) accommodation is plentiful in the area. Feel free to book whatever suits your situation best at all budget ranges on Airbnb, VRBO, The Thinking Traveller, and Booking.com.
Please note due to the rural nature of Puglia, there are typically no taxis on the road to hail and Uber does not operate across the region. If you want to use taxi services, you will need to pre-book (normally €60+ min each way)
We will be providing shuttle services to and from all wedding events for the hotels that are a part of the room blocks and recommended luxury hotel below.

Recommended Luxury Hotel
While we do not have a room block here, if you are looking for a luxury stay we will be providing shuttle services to and from Borgo Egnazia as they are very close to the wedding venue. Please contact our planners if you book a stay here so we can arrange for wedding events accordingly.
Borgo Egnazia
4 mins, 2.4km from the wedding venue
Borgo Egnazia is castle-like and candle-lit, built in imitation of a traditional village (borgo) but with luxurious add-ons, including a Michelin-starred restaurant, championship golf course, two beach clubs with private beaches – one sandy, one pebbly – and a knock-out spa that bases its treatments on ancient Puglian rituals.
Fun fact: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got married here! It also comes highly recommended from Meena & Jaysen as they loved their stay here :)
Airbnbs
We recommend staying in the Fasano area as it is closest to the wedding venue. Ostuni, Monopoli & Polignano a mare are some of the bigger cities close by if you'd like ~20 minute drive to get to the wedding venue.
As a reminder, there are no Ubers or Taxis you can hail in the area and we will not be providing shuttle services to/from individual airbnbs. If you are booking an airbnb please make sure to check out the "travel page" on our website which includes details on private drivers/taxis to arrange for transpiration for wedding events. If you have any issues you are also welcome to contact our wedding planners bookings@ottoneweddings.com to have them help arrange!
Some places may come up as unavailable online if you are booking more than 6 months in advance. If you have any issues with booking accommodation, please contact our wedding planners on their email: bookings@ottoneweddings.com or via whatsapp at +39 3791055457
COMING SOON!
We will be providing complimentary shuttles to and from all wedding events for guests staying at hotels that are part of the wedding room blocks listed on the "Accommodations" page. Once we have finalized the schedule we will list it here. Each hotel will also have these schedules available for guests to reference.
Activities
Puglia
Find some of our favorite places to visit below!
Alberobello
The town of Alberobello is among the most famous of the region’s attractions. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site this town is a unique and enchanting place filled with the area’s famous Trulli (whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs that have been around for centuries).
But beyond the classic snap, there’s more to this town that meets the eye. With its narrow pedestrianized streets, little shops selling local produce and family run cafes and trattoria offering al fresco dining, Alberobello is worth a pit stop on your Puglian holiday.
Tip: Get there early before the tourists arrive and the heat kicks in.
Suggested restaurant: La Cantina
Polignano a Mare
Cala Porto in Polignano a Mare is a world-class beach and a must-hit for everyone attending. It's a low-key port with a whitewashed medieval center sprinkled with bars and restaurants perched on the edge of the limestone cliffs. You've probably seen this beach on social media before and it's definitely worth the visit!
Tip: While you put your towel down to mark your spot, you might be lucky enough to see some local cliff divers jumping into the ocean while you cool down. The town is also known for its ice cream – perfect for an anytime treat while you stroll on one of its many panoramic terraces.
Suggested Restaurants:
- Grotta Palazzese:This upscale restaurant in Polignano a Mare is set into a cave and is quite famous worldwide. Many refer to it as the most romantic restaurant in the world.
- Da Tuccino: One of the nicest places to eat fish in the region, it's just a few km north along the coast.
- Osteria di Chichibio: Simple but tasty. A rare occasion to eat fish and vegetables cooked in a wood oven and served in pottery dishes.
Monopoli
With its breath-taking beaches and beautiful historic center with High-Medieval origins overlooking the sea, Monopoli is the place where art, history and entertainment come together harmoniously. Called “the city of a hundred districts” because it is divided into various agricultural sections, each with unique characteristics, Monopoli offers unforgettable and unique experiences and scenarios: walks on the promenade, visits to the numerous monuments that characterize this charming old village, and nightlife by the sea remain indelible in the memory of those who spend their holidays in this Puglian town.
Tip: Enjoy a walk after a day at the beach and go to Sottocoperta pub, a lovely terrace for aperitivo
Suggested Restaurants:
- Ristorante Pizzeria Bar Porto Rosso
- Carlo Quinto
- Osteria Perricci
Fasano/Savelletri (15-20 minutes outside of Monopoli):
- Ristorante da Silvè
- Masseria TORRE COCCARO
- Anticalama Colonial Resort & Villas (SAT dinner and SUN lunch)
- Pescheria 2 Mari
- Da Pino e Vincenzo ( fresh urchins are cut open each morning - €1 for three)
- La Frasca at Borgo Egnazia
- Pescheria Da Vito at Borgo Egnazia
Ostuni
The city of Ostuni can be seen from far and wide across the region and is known as the ‘White City’ (or La Città Bianca). Ostuni's old town is a maze of cobbled streets and narrow staircases and is filled with churches, shops, and restaurants. The area boasts some great food including a couple of Michelin star restaurants.
Tip: Head to Borgo Antico Bistrot for a sunset Aperitivo for some of the best views in Puglia
Suggested Restaurants:
- La Risacca
- Osteria Del Tempo Perso (Michelin Star Restaurant)
- Attico Rooftop 225
- Ristorante Taverna della Gelosia
- Il Cortiletto (14 minutes outside of Ostuni) - this restaurant comes highly recommended by our planners but you need to book at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Masseria Il Frantoio (10 minutes outside of Ostuni) - it's a stunning place to stop in for lunch.
NOTE: reservations (2-3 days notice) are recommended!
Matera
Matera is a 1.5 hour drive from our venue and is the oldest city in Italy! It's such a cool place filled with caves, unreal restaurants, and an amazing hike with great views! It was also the location of the opening sequence in the newest Bond Film.
Bari
Bari is a great hopping off point to other parts of Europe and it's definitely worth a quick stop. The highlight for us was Strada of Orechiette. It's a small alley where local nonna's make and sell handmade orecchiette pasta ("little ears' '). If you find yourself in Bari in the morning you can also check out the fresh fish market and enjoy some fresh octopus or sea urchin.
Lecce
Lecce, a one hour drive South of our wedding, is sometimes called the "Florence of the South". It's TOTALLY worth a visit if you want to explore more of the region. You could definitely stay here for 3-4 days. The shopping and restaurant scenes are AMAZING!
Nearby is Grotta Della Poesia, a must hit if you're near Lecce, and Torre dell'Orso, a world famous beach. Lecce is also the gateway to seaside towns like Gallipoli, Otranto, and Santa Maria di Leuca. Each of these is worth visiting and all serve as a perfect day trip. Finally, Castellana Grotte is a beautiful underground cave and one of the most important attractions in Puglia.
Wine Tasting
Terre Di San Vito
The place to visit is of course the Terre Di San Vito farm. It is a two hour wine tasting experience that beats all other winery experiences located in Polignano a Mare including a food tasting.

Our Story
Jaysen and Meena were first introduced through mutual friends. Jaysen always had a crush on Meena, but in typical fashion was too shy to say anything. He finally worked up the courage to ask Meena out and they hit it off instantaneously. Unfortunately, at the time Jaysen was moving back to NYC but for some reason the pair was able to spontaneously be in each other’s respective cities for “work” trips over the course of the next few months. They agreed to take things slow…which they soon came to realize would mean moving in together in LA as the pandemic hit shortly after.
Fast forward to 2 years of living together, being around each other 24/7, getting a crash course in dating and co-parenting a puppy - they knew they had something special. Just as things were coming together and life was returning to normal, Jaysen had to get back to NYC for work. But deep down his heart was in LA and he couldn’t live without Meena or the puppy. After 1.5 years of long distance, in 2023 Jaysen was able to make that a reality by getting a new job in LA. He was officially reunited with Meena in LA where they remain a house divided as Meena and the puppy refuse to root for Bay Area sports teams (even though they are from the Bay Area). The rest is history...
The Proposal
Jaysen picked a warm sunny day in Malibu to surprise Meena. He waited patiently on the beach to meet her for what she thought would be a normal afternoon with friends. With friends and family watching closely nearby, Jaysen surprised Meena and got down on one knee to ask the big question. Following their intimate moment on the beach, Jaysen and Meena were greeted with friends and family for a special sunset dinner overlooking the ocean.
Why We Chose Puglia, Italy as Our Wedding Location
Welcome to what we think is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets! We chose this beautiful part of Southern Italy for its phenomenal beaches, crystal clear waters, a countryside full of olive trees (inspo for our crest) and of most importantly, incredible food & wine. We think it's the best marriage of Italian beach and countryside and cannot wait to enjoy it with everyone. We loved how peaceful, private and authentic Puglia felt when we visited and instantly knew it would make a great location for our wedding.
Below are some pictures from our trip this summer with our favorite highlights, hope you enjoy and see you there next summer!
